OUR STORY
Changing the face of dementia support

In 2010 Memory Matters was born. An organisation to help change the face of dementia support in our community.

Memory Matters is a social enterprise and charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by dementia across Plymouth and Cornwall. We combine practical support, education, and community-based services to help individuals, families, and organisations better understand and respond to dementia. By working closely within local communities, we deliver accessible services, create inclusive spaces, and develop innovative projects like Moments Café that bring people together, reduce isolation, and promote wellbeing.

The aim of Memory Matters has always been to provide meaningful services that respond to the needs expressed by people living with dementia. We believe that having access to compassionate support, therapies and activities enables people to live well with their dementia.

Kate Smith leads the organisation as sole CEO, with the strong support of a dedicated board of directors, a team of experienced operational managers and a fabulous, warm and friendly team.
