To Hats On For Dementia 2026 - Website content
To shine a light on World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21st, we wish to encourage everyone to take
part in a ‘Hats On for Dementia’ mufti day.
We chose a ‘Hats On for Dementia’ theme for many reasons; hats are a fun, visible, and an easy activity
for everyone to participate in, but most importantly, we want to highlight that we all wear many hats
throughout our lives — mother, father, sister, teacher, friend, for example.
Too often, when someone is living with dementia, the hats they once wore are forgotten, and only the
“dementia hat” is seen. Let’s remember and celebrate every role, every hat, and every part of the person
beyond their diagnosis.
We would love for as many people as possible across Plymouth and Cornwall to get involved by wearing
their funniest hat to help raise awareness and support our charity.
Did You Know?
Alzheimer’s is the most common type of dementia. It's a brain condition that causes problems with
memory, thinking, and daily tasks.
It often begins with small things—like forgetting names or misplacing items- but over time, it can make
daily life much harder. While there is no cure yet, support, understanding, and early help can make a
huge difference.
Together, let’s raise awareness and show our support for people living with Alzheimer’s and their families.
