Here at Memory Matters, we're continually inspired by the incredible dedication of our fundraisers. Their passion fuels our mission, and we love nothing more than supporting them every step of the way as they strive to reach their fundraising goals.
We're absolutely thrilled to introduce you to Neil Caswell, a remarkable individual from the West Midlands who is embarking on an awe-inspiring fundraising adventure this August. Neil is planning to cycle an epic journey from Worcestershire all the way to Plymouth in one incredible push, not just to raise vital funds for Memory Matters, but also to ignite crucial awareness for dementia.
When we recently spoke with Neil, his heartfelt motivation became immediately clear. He shared that both his parents, Ivor and Valerie, have found immense comfort and benefit from the many services provided by Memory Matters. Their positive experiences and high praise for our team deeply resonated with Neil, compelling him to choose our charity as the beneficiary of his extraordinary efforts.
Neil's JustGiving page details his ambitious route, which will begin at his dairy farm in Worcestershire before heading into Wales. From there, he plans to "pop over the Severn Bridge & into Somerset, then down through Exeter & into Plymouth." This monumental journey will span approximately 240 miles and is expected to take around 18 hours, including well-deserved breaks. He plans to set off around 5 PM on a Thursday or Friday in August, riding through the night and into the following day.
The exact date is still a moving target, as Neil's incredible feat is highly dependent on favourable weather conditions—and as we all know, British summers can be wonderfully unpredictable!
We want to extend our most heartfelt and immense gratitude to Neil for his unwavering support of Memory Matters. His commitment is truly inspiring, and every single penny and pound he raises will make a profound difference in the lives of those living LOCALLY with dementia and their families.
