Empowering Dementia Carers Training
We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Improving Lives Plymouth's "Caring for Carers" service for the third year. This collaboration marks a significant step in our shared commitment to supporting individuals living with dementia and, crucially, those who dedicate their lives to caring for them.
At Memory Matters, we understand that caring for someone with dementia presents unique challenges and requires a deep level of understanding. That's why we are proud to deliver an exclusive online "Insight into Dementia" course specifically for the incredible carers who access the Improving Lives Plymouth "Caring for Carers" service.
This comprehensive online course is designed to equip carers with essential knowledge and practical insights, empowering them to navigate their caregiving journey with greater confidence and compassion. Over the course, participants will gain a clearer understanding of:
What Dementia Is: The fundamental nature of dementia, demystifying the condition and providing a foundational understanding.
The Different Types of Dementia: Dementia is not a single disease. Our course explores the various types, such as Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, and Lewy body dementia, highlighting their distinct characteristics.
Understanding Symptoms: We discuss common symptoms that people living with dementia may display, from memory loss and communication difficulties to changes in mood and behavior. Understanding these symptoms can help carers respond more effectively and empathetically.
Local Support for Carers and Individuals with Dementia: Crucially, we provide information on the vital local support services available right here in Plymouth. This includes resources for both the person living with dementia and, equally importantly, the invaluable support networks for the carers themselves.
Our goal is to provide a supportive and informative environment where carers can ask questions, share experiences, and feel more equipped to provide the best possible care. By offering this online course, we aim to reach a wide audience of carers, ensuring they have access to vital information from the comfort of their own homes.
This partnership with Improving Lives Plymouth's "Caring for Carers" service is a testament to our belief that informed carers are empowered carers. We look forward to working closely with them to make a tangible difference in the lives of families affected by dementia in our community.
